Trend Report

Did you guys see Project Runway? I'm really keeping a eye on Christopher Straub and Ramon Lawrence. Everyone was kinda blah but it was the first episode so we'll see.
Now where was I...IT'S CELEBRITY TREND REPORT time. It's been awhile.

Would you wear these trends?

Denim Vests
(L-R)Ashley Tisdale,Kate Bosworth
I'm on the fence about this one. You can easily look like a lost farmer girl or a hillbilly in this. But it's all about accessories it can really make a difference. Don't wear jeans with your denim vest, the 90's has left us. Let it R.I.P

Round Sunglasses
(L-R)Sienna Miller,Mary Kate Olsen
NO,especially if they're clear. It doesn't look right on anyone. Attempt at your own risk.

Denim Rompers
(L-R)Eva Marcille,Anna Faris
Yes,if they are similar to Anna's romper. It's sexy but over the top, just simple& cute. It's something different to wear to the beach,a BBQ or the amusement park.Pair them with flip flops or a casual sandal.

Fringed Sandals
(L-R)Jessica Biel,Jennifer Love Hewitt
Yes times ten. My style has been described has boho and hippie chic so this definitely appeals to me.A little fringe is good for the soul.

Tie-Dye Jeans
(L-R)Fergie,Gwen Stefani
NO! I don't like to bring anymore attention to my hips, thighs and ass.

Leave comments& follow:)!

They only want you when you're seventeen...

When you're 21 you're no fun. Some of you may have smiled at my post title it's a lyric from the amazing song by Ladytron called Seventeen. CHECK IT OUT. I got this idea from another blogger, creating a some of my favorite things list. This list isn't in a specific order and if we share anything in common..don't be afraid to leave a comment.
1)Starbucks or Chock full of Nuts Iced Lattes
Every New Yorker knows what I'm talking about. Starbucks is the ultimate then Chock full of nuts then second cup:)
2)Cosmopolitan,Nylon&Vogue magazine
Cosmo is my guilty pleasure. Nylon feeds the hipster in me. Vogue inspires the high end fashionista in me.
3)
Glam Eyes Lash Flirt is the best mascara ever wanted or I would like to think so. There's no clumps or messiness. It lifts and separate your lashes for the highly desired lush and voluminous eyelashes. For those that have sensitive eyes like moi this is PERFECT. My eyes didn't water or turn red as it usually does with other mascaras. It's available in all drugstores and it costs roughly between 6 and 8 dollars.I'm not really a makeup kind of girl but everything once in a while a little mascara won't hurt.
4)
Neutrogena Oil Free Acne Wash (Grapefruit)Um,yeah this thing is amazing. I have oily skin, like out of nowhere my nose will get really oily...even shiny. I've been using the unscented acne wash for years and let me tell you it works wonders.I've gotten so much compliments on how clear and even my skin tone is.Now that it is in grapefruit it's all the more pleasant. In the morning it's great, the smell really does wake you up. It's about 6,7 or 8 dollars. Use it ladies&gents.
5)
Headbands
Let me just say that I've been wearing headbands way before Gossip Girl. I've been wearing headbands since I was 14..I'm almost 18 btw. When I used to wear them all the time people were like"You're always wearing a headband...why" " Can I try it on?" "Sharifa and her headbands..." OK,my rant is over but you get the point. Memo to self:I need a black headband.
**These headbands are from elizab.com
6)Exotic/Fashion JewelryIf you know me personally you've probably seen me in real jewelry i.e gold, silver, maybe a handful of time. You've seen me in fashion jewelry more than you can count. I love love it. It adds a different look to your clothes: a more modern, fun, and funky look. How can you resist peacock earrings or pink pearls? For my exotic jewelry lovers,I think we all lust for a snake bracelet(Pic above).
7) Autumn
Fall w/e you want to call it. I love everything about it: the leaves, the air,the way everything seems to be going at a slower pace,THE WEATHER. I hate summer it makes me sweat and my hair poofy and curly-.- The best thing is going for a walk in central park during fall right around mid October or so. Just like Heaven.
8)Good music & Good people i.e my family and friends.I listen to all kinds of music but I have this soft spot for rock n roll. I grew up listening to Guns N Roses,Micheal Jackson,Prince. Slowly but surely I started listening to hip hop, softer rock, indie, pop, techno and country. There's something on my play list for everyone.
9)Sugar
I have a serious problem-everyday I must intake sugar. Whether it's Raisin Bran Crunch, starbust, cupcake or latte. I have a serious sweet tooth. If you never had a Godiva chocolate shake,I highly recommend one or two. **Workout everyday or every other day if you plan to eat like me,ah aha
10)Books
I love a good read! Here's some book that you should definitely check out:

The Alchemist-Paulo Coelho
I hope they serve beer in hell-Tucker Max
A piece of cake-Cupcake Brown
Three cups of tea-Greg Mortenson
Hard Love-Ellen Wittlinger
Prep-Curtis Sittenfeld
Delivery man-Joe McGinniss
The giver-Lois Lowry

That's it for my favorites list, look out for a pt.2 to this list...
Much Love,
S

I have a fetish...

FOR BOOTS!
I absolutely love boots especially leather boots.During the fall and winter, I live in my Jessica Simpson boots. My boots end mid-calf;they're leather and a light caramel color. The girl can do no wrong in my eyes. I love her!!! She's gorgeous, talented,a sweetheart and makes fabulous shoes. My boots are from fall/winter 08 so there aren't on www.jessicasimpsoncollection.com anymore.I recommend you check out her collection for trendy and sturdy boots.
It's only August but I couldn't resist googling boots for the upcoming season.

I know the "bootie" lovers are frapping now. These boots are from the Jessica Simpson collection. It costs $149, They're available in black, mahogany and saddle brown. I love the bow-tie detailing at the side. It's not too much but it's eye catching. And if you can walk in these heels,Bless you:)

Caramel toned leather boots are the absolute best. They give off that little country feel without the cornyness of cowboy boots. **Cowboy boots=over, done, over processed** I love wearing my caramel boots with my dark blue rinse skinny jeans. You can't go wrong with skinny jeans and boots. They are flawless together... These are from Aldo's,check out www.aldoshoes.com. They are the "Arnis" boot and it'll cost you $160. I'm not a huge fan of Aldo's but occasionally they have really cute shoes. These boots also come in black and maogghany.

These are a little riding boot-esque. They're from Naturalizer, check out www.naturalizer.com. Naturalizer is definitely underrated, they carry strong and trendy shoes. It's $129 and it only comes in this color-black suede.

Here are a couple of quirky boots from Urban Outfitters:

Kimchi Blue Foldover Bootie $88

Seychelles Vamp Bootie $128

Minnetonka Fringe Boot $78

Dr.Martens Floral 1460 $128

Jeffrey Campbell Cutout Bootie $99

Better late than never! Summer Trend Report

Some of you fashion groupies may already know what's hot this summer. There's the distressed jeans trend that's slyly making its way into the fall/winter scene. Here are a couple of my favorites this season:

Tribal/Ethnic prints
I absolutely love this look. It's so bold and fresh. This trend comes up every year and still it never feels overdone. There are tons of different designs and patterns that look really funky and different. A tribal/ethnic shirt, dress, pant, headband, scarf etc.can turn a look from blah to wow.

Ripped/Distress Jeans
This look has the potential to be a hot mess and hotness. There's a fine line in between and you just have to find the perfect pair. It may be a little cliche but less is definitely more. Too much rips, tears and fake paint can look plain t-a-c-k-y. Neat rips and slight tears (that are not near the buttocks) can look rather trendy and fabulous. In my opinion medium and dark wash jeans look great with ripped or distressed.

Neon Nails
You can partly blame Rihanna for this. It's a nice change up from the red and darker hues we tend to use during the fall, winter and even spring months. A mani-pedi is always hotter with bold and vibrant colors.

Statement Pendant Necklaces!!!
You can't go wrong with this trend. I know someone is gonna make me regret saying that, ahahaha. But really, you know I love pieces that stand out and can transform outfits. Hint:Turquoise,Turquoise,Turquoise.

WhoWhatWear is right once again. Tiny floral dresses are just too cute to ignore this summer. What a perfect dress to wear to a BBQ,picnic or stroll in the park w/the beau ;) Florals will always be trendy. Mark my words.
It feels really good to post again. Show me love, leave comments! Email me,I always respond. I can't wait to get Girl of the WEEK started again. The site is alive,no worries. I won't abandon you for another 11 months:X
Much Love,
Sherri

Did you miss me?

BLASPHEMY! I've been away for too long. I had a very nice and interesting hiatus but I miss this blog. Most of all I miss the feedback and my girlies. I really need something to do this summer and this is it. I apologize for taking so long. High school is over and I'm going to be 18 next month:) Life isn't too shabby. Now where were we?...
